Summary
When Georgie Mair's husband John dies, her close-knit family help her through that terrible time. Her parents are her bedrocks and, despite their own problems, her siblings help too: sister Lena, who nurses romantic ambitions ; brother Tom, for whom religion proves a barrier to romance in 1920s Glasgow ; and devout older sister Mary. Love returns to Georgie's world when Charlie Gunn saves her life. Their relationship blossoms into marriage - but she soon separates from him, shocking the staid community. Then, in the new era of a new Labour government, Georgie meets Bill Bailey, who is everything Charlie was not. But will she find the same bliss she had found with John? Or will this third bite at the cherry be something completely different?
