Summary |
For the first time ever, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II shares her personal memories of her 1953 Coronation, as well as that of her father’s King George VI in 1937. Viewing both private and official film footage, most of which she has not seen before, the Queen reveals her recollections of the event that changed her life forever. Eyewitnesses also shed new light on the ceremony, including a maid of honour who nearly fainted in the Abbey. Exploring the Crown Jewels and their role and symbolic meaning, this film uses the latest camera technology to capture the astonishing beauty of the royal regalia including the St. Edward’s Crown, which was destroyed after the English Civil War, remade for the Coronation of Charles II in 1661 and worn by Her Majesty only once.Made by multi-Emmy and multi-BAFTA award winning Atlantic Productions, this enchanting documentary tells the real story of the Queen’s Coronation, 65 years on. |
