Summary
The Miranda space station has been utterly destroyed, while policing the frontiers of human-occupied space. Earth assigns Agent Ian Cormac to discover the truth - and alien bioconstruct Dragon seems the most likely culprit. Meanwhile, rebellion is brewing on Masada. The planet's people are enslaved underground, living in fear of their overlords in orbit, who punish transgressions with laser strikes. And leaving their compounds means death, as monstrous predators roam the toxic surface. As civil war looms, a rebel biophysicist finds a lethal Jain artefact which could mean freedom. But he must be stopped at all costs, as the destruction would be catastrophic. But what connects the artefact and Miranda - and can Cormac find out in time?
