Summary
"In 2018, a soaring West Coast Eagles snatched their fourth AFL Premiership in one of the most dramatic Grand Finals in memory. Heading in to the 2018 Toyota AFL Premiership Season following an inconsistent 2017 campaign that culminated in Semi Final heartbreak against the Giants and the retirements of Sam Mitchell and Matt Priddis, many commentators had written off the West Coast Eagles before a ball had been bounced. And after a first-round loss to the Sydney Swans at the Eagles' new Optus Stadium, their pessimism appeared to be justified. However, Adam Simpson's Eagles would then embark on a 10-game winning streak to top the ladder before their Round 12 bye. Three consecutive losses following the bye would result in the Eagles relinquishing the top spot but consistent form in the second half of the season, despite the season-ending injury to key player Nic Naitanui in Round 17, would secure the high-flying Eagles the double chance and a home final."--Container.
