Summary |
Expert presenters in engineering, architecture and geography explore some of the finest examples of Ireland's building and engineering heritage. 'Building Ireland' explores, investigates and re-discovers historically significant buildings and engineering achievements in Ireland, exploring the design and construction of landmarks, bridges, buildings, ports and railways over its six episodes. A team of expert presenters in engineering, architecture and geography explore some of the finest examples of Ireland's building and engineering heritage. The technological challenge will be set in an historical and geographical context, with reference to the social-economic impact of the build. Communicating these themes with competence, excitement and accessibility is the task for the able team of presenters - architect Orla Murphy, engineer Tim Joyce and geographer Dr Susan Hegarty. The series is especially interested in engineering heritage that reflects a variety of geography, function and historical importance, and which has left an indelible mark on a community. Location live action filming is complemented with archival film, stills and documents and some CGI illustration animating the construction techniques involved. 3D graphics and short animated sequences complement the narrative, |
