Summary
Patriarch Michael Gough is reduced to borrowing a leaky barn for his living quarters. It's a far cry from the splendour of the family pile, Sitten Hall, which he was forced to 'gift' to the National Trust twenty years ago. When his elderly mother, Granny Banana, falls out of the Land Rover, a funeral is the last thing the family can afford. At least she had survived to see the christening of a great-grandchild, and she'd been present at Sir Michael's daughter's wedding - but how can he give her the funeral she wanted when the family coffers are empty?
