Summary After more than two-years at River Cottage Australia in picturesque Central Tilba, chef-turned-farmer Paul West has his hands well and truly full as his farm grows into a serious small holding. In the new 8-part series, with mid-winter bearing down on the farm, Paul is struggling to cope with his litter of 18 fast-growing piglets, not to mention 8 mischievous goats, 50 chickens, dairy cattle, ducks and a misbehaving Digger dog. Paul will face challenges that put his farming skills to the test and will need to decide how to best manage his livestock and vegetable garden with limited resources and very little infrastructure. To do that, hes going to have to rely on his mentors, friends and other experts in the local community. With their help, he has plans to tailor his vegetable garden into a small business to supply local restaurants and cafes. Hell trade what livestock he can, and beg, borrow and barter what he needs to set up River Cottage farm as a truly sustainable and profitable enterprise. And in amongst it all, hell continue his journey in the local area to discover the best seasonal produce from the land to the rivers and the sea and share cooking tips and delicious meals with friends, neighbours and viewers alike. Episode One: In over a year Pauls farm has grown from a hobby farm to a serious small holder but without proper infrastructure he needs plan for the future. So with this in mind this season working out new ways to earn a keep - planting veggies & selling his pigs for profit. Episode Two: Theres trouble on Pauls farm and his goats go missing. Plus hes questioning Bessies future & needs to find out if shes pregnant. Its also time to turn the winter veggie patch into his first cash crop. Episode Three: Tough times for Paul when he asks home butcher & friend Matt to help him slaughter his first goat. When Paul helps to rebuild a community garden the goat goes to a good cause. Episode Four: In an attempt to make a quicker profit Paul decides to add hens & honey to his farm so goes on a road trip to find out how. Digger proves hes got the nose for truffle hunting. Episode Five: Paul welcomes visitors to the farm. His Dad arrives for the 1st time & they go on a camping trip to hunt feral deer. And the Latimer sisters, who grew up at the farm, come home for morning tea and give Paul a history lesson. Episode Six: Paul goes on a wild bee hunt & builds a hive for the farm. And faces the hard task of taking his first pigs born and raised on the farm to the abattoir. Episode Seven: He learns about catching eels from indigenous local & chef Noel Butler and sells his first eggs & veggie boxes into Tilba. Months of hard work pay-off when Paul turns his own pigs into profit at the Eden Whale festival but its not all-smooth sailing. Episode Eight: After months of training its time for Digger to shine at a local dog competition. To welcome the start of summer Paul hosts a cricket match at RCA to celebrate the start of summer and share his produce with his friends. And his beloved cow Bessie finally gives birth.
