Summary "A true Australian success story, Jacki Weaver has captured the attention of film audiences for five decades, participating in the much celebrated Australian New Wave and showing her versatility throughout the Ozpolitation era of filmmaking. Years before her highly acclaimed Academy Award® nominated performance in Animal Kingdom, Jacki Weaver appeared in a number of key Aussie productions, some of which are included in this entertaining collection. STORK : Stork (Bruce Spence) is halfway to losing his virginity when he becomes bowled over by the feisty Anna (Jacki Weaver). Boldly carrying the free-love torch from the 60s into the 70s Anna is already involved with Stork's two flat mates. When she falls pregnant it is every man for himself in a mad scramble for supremacy. THE PERFECTIONIST : Living the suburban dream in middle-class Sydney, Barbara (Oscar® nominee Jacki Weaver, Animal Kingdom) and Stewart (AFI Award winner John Waters, Offspring) have three kids and are rapidly approaching a cross roads in their lives. Stuart is an academic, focused on his all-important thesis. Chomping at the bit to further her limited education and feeling that her children are old enough to cope, Barbara decides to put her housewife duties aside in order to pursue a course of study at university. Barbara employs a Swedish babysitter, Eric (Steven Vidler, Two Hands), to keep an eye on the kids, leaving Stewart to suck up the jealousy and uncomfortably endure the presence of another man interfering in the affairs of his family. CADDIE : Caddie (Helen Morse) is a single mother forced to earn a living as a barmaid to support her family during the Great Depression. When Ted (Jack Thompson) steals her heart Caddie unexpectedly finds romance with Greek immigrant Peter (Takis Emmanuel). Winner of four AFI Awards Caddie also features a first-rate support cast including Jacki Weaver, Melissa Jaffer, Drew Forsythe and Lynette Curran. SQUIZZY TAYLOR : Melbourne, 1919 - a turf war erupts between rival Fitzroy and Richmond gangs. Gang leader Squizzy Taylor (David Atkins) is a master of manipulation but when he trades moll Dolly (Jacki Weaver) in favour of Ida (Kim Lewis), things become unsettled and it is only a matter of time before he faces his chief rival Snowy Cutmore (Steve Bisley)." -- jbhifi.com.au.
