| Summary |
Junior Doctor Ruby Walker (Amrita Acharia) has just left a cold, grey England following a bad break up, on an adventure to begin at a glamorous hospital job in tropical South India. Anticipating sunshine, palm trees and picturesque beaches, Ruby is prepared for sacred cows, tuk-tuks and Delhi-belly--but what she doesn't expect is everything she finds at the under-resourced and overworked Good Karma Hospital. Run by the no-nonsense Doctor Lydia Fonseca (Amanda Redman), the Good Karma Hospital turns no one away, whether they're a local, expat or tourist. In the company of laid-back, beach-bar owner Greg (Neil Morrissey) and tourists-turned residents Maggie (Phyllis Logan) and Paul (Philip Jackson), Ruby adjusts to life in India and realises that the Good Karma Hospital may be more than just a rundown medical outpost--it might just be home. |
