Summary A fascinating documentary about the largely forgotten role of Australians on the Western Front of World War I. This is an attempt to redress this historical oversight, and features soldiers who fought in battles such as Fromelles, Poziers, Bullecourt and the series of battles of the Third Ypres. Using hundreds of brutally honest and extraordinary eyewitness accounts by the diggers in the muddy and bloody trenches, their private diaries, letters and postcards are reproduced to tell of their heart-rending experiences, battle by bloody battle.
