Membership of any Canterbury-Bankstown Library is FREE!


How to join

To join our library and get immediate access to some of our best online resources:

• Read our Conditions of Membership below.
• Click the Accept button and complete the online registration form.
• Submit the online registration form.
• You will be emailed a temporary online membership # and PIN. These details can be used to immediately access many of our online resources.

• Bring identification showing your full name and address into a branch.
• Complete a written registration form.
• For members under 16, your parent must accompany you to a branch and provide identification showing their full name and address as well as identification with your name e.g., Medicare card.

As a member of Canterbury-Bankstown Libraries I agree to comply with the following:

• I agree to abide by all Canterbury-Bankstown Library Service guidelines, policies and conditions of membership including the Library Services Policy.
• I agree to abide by the NSW Library Act 1939 , associated regulations, and provisions of the Copyright Act 1968 .
• I accept full responsibility for all items borrowed on my card
• I agree to pay replacement costs plus handling charges for any items lost, stolen or damaged. I understand membership privileges may be suspended until items are returned or charges are paid in full.
• I agree to return items on or before the due date, or renew the items (conditions apply).
• I am responsible for the security of my card and must not lend my card to another person.
• I must notify the library immediately if my card is lost or stolen and understand I am responsible for any use of my card prior to library notification.
• I agree to notify the library of any changes to my personal details, within a reasonable timeframe.
• Relevant reminder notifications will be sent via email or SMS. I understand I must maintain a valid email address and/or mobile number to receive these alerts.
• I will respect the rights and security of library employees and other library users and agree to comply with any reasonable direction given by library staff.
• A full library membership will be considered inactive if not used for a period of 3 years.
• Parents/Guardians of children under 16 agree to these conditions on behalf of their child and accept full responsibility for their child’s membership.

The personal information provided by you is required by Canterbury-Bankstown Library Service to process this application and provide access to resources and services. This information is held by Council and access is restricted to Council officers and other authorised people.

You may make an application to Council for access to - or amendment of - your personal information.

To update the personal information held by Canterbury-Bankstown Library, log into your account at cb.city/LibCat and edit your information. Alternatively, you can visit one of our branches and speak to our friendly staff.

By submitting an application to join the Canterbury-Bankstown Library Service you agree to accept and abide by our Conditions of Membership.
